The DSM Biotech Campus in Delft is home to the Rosalind Franklin Biotechnology Center. With climate change and environmental pollution making the use of fossil fuels too harmful, scientists are developing new fuels for the future here.
In the central atrium of the laboratory, Fokkema & Partners designed workplaces, meeting places and offices. All spaces are openly connected, but sufficient privacy has been ensured. A striking detail are the ‘pebbles’; the organic shapes are bio-responsible and functional in use. When it is quiet in the atrium, they give the space a nice cachet. The warm and informal atmosphere reinforces the idea of a social heart here.
DSM commissioned Keijsers to furnish the office area. The pantries, informal workstations, tailor-made storage spaces and also the organically shaped pebbles in the atrium were delivered to great satisfaction.
